Meditation and Buddhism in the Cotswolds
Akanishta Kadampa Buddhist Centre
Akanishta Centre has been established in Whaddon Lodge for two years, and has already attracted a growing number of people from all walks of life from the local community, and beyond, who come to find out about the practical benefits of meditation and Buddhism.
Buddhism is a path of individual transformation. It teaches us to look within ourselves for the inner peace and happiness we seek. By developing a more positive outlook and in particular by deepening our wisdom and compassion, we can solve all our daily problems and gain great power to help others. Meditation is a way of calming the mind, making us more peaceful, balanced and focused in our daily life. Ultimately it allows us to awaken our potential and find lasting joy and contentment.
Learning to meditate is very simple and straight forward, we usually begin by being guided and once we have become familiar with the basics we can meditate each day at home.
Everyone is very welcome, you certainly don’t need to be a Buddhist to attend or visit the Centre. Our aim is to provide a peaceful environment and help people find some inner peace, through meditation and the practical advice Buddha taught to help people with everyday life.
