Pujas (Chanted Meditations)

Akanishta Centre offers the opportunity to engage in beautiful Buddhist prayers and meditations with other practitioners. Practising pujas uplifts and inspires the mind, and gives us the inner energy we need to make our spiritual practice effective in daily life.

Everyone is welcome.

Some of the pujas we practise together:

Heart Jewel

Heart Jewel contains two essential practices. The first is a special Guru Yoga practice in which we receive blessings and inspiration from our own Spiritual Guide visualized as Je Tsongkhapa, the founder of our tradition and the manifestation of all Buddhas’ wisdom, compassion and spiritual power. The second is the condensed sadhana of the Dharma Protector in which we receive special care and protection from the wisdom Buddha Dorje Shugden, the protector of Je Tsongkhapa’s tradition.

Heart Jewel is a daily practice for Kadampa Buddhists throughout the world and provides a perfect context in which to practise the stages of profound meditation of Lamrim, Lojong and Mahamudra.

The puja Wishfulfilling Jewel is the same but includes a longer Dorje Shugden sadhana. Sometimes this puja is performed with a tsog offering, which is a special food offering ceremony. A very nice occasion to come and spend time with spiritual friends.

Everyone welcome.
