Ever wanted someone or something to make you happy, content and fulfilled? Most of us could easily list things we believe can do this —possessions we want, people we’d enjoy being with, places we’d like to experience. Yet we know from our experience that we are often disappointed, as none of these can ensure lasting happiness; you can be happy even in their absence, the experience you find within yourself.
The benefits of this course:
In a competitive society, we become accustomed to comparing ourselves with others, often concluding that we’re not good enough and that is why a day to day happy and fulfilling life eludes us. This mindset is a dangerous trap that undermines our joy, disrupts relationships, and leads to harmful habits.
While it’s true that we can always improve, despising ourselves in our current state is unreasonable. We flourish through nurturing, not by self-criticism. In short, we need to be our own good friend.
What to expect:
The course will include practical advice, guided meditations, time for reflection and discussion. All in the peaceful and supportive environment of Akanishta Centre. Our welcoming centre is easily accessible, with parking and public transport nearby.
No prior experience is necessary, and everyone is welcome.
About our resident teacher:
This course will be led by Gen Kelsang Opel, a highly experienced Kadampa Buddhist teacher known for her compassionate and practical approach. Gen Opel has been helping people find greater peace and clarity through meditation for many years and is skilled at making the dharma teachings accessible to everyone.
Self-nurturing isn’t selfish; true love for ourselves and for others goes hand in hand because, at a deeper level, there is no separation between self and others.
Space is limited for this event. Book now to ensure your place.
Everyone is welcome.
